In the early 1900's it was all about entertainment and boredom relief for U.S. sailors. It was referred to as 'Happy Hour Social' or sometimes called 'Smokers'. It is said that these hours were more innocent than the ones we have now. Think movies, activities, no alcohol.
When Prohibition started, it removed the ability to enjoy drinks when dining out. With only a few hours between work and dinner one would have to secretly hurry and knock back a few before going home.
Fast forward a century, with the few beloved anticipated hours we know and love today, the Happy Hour is born.
Within the Yaletown area there are many different restaurants and bars that offer Happy Hour specials.
We will take you to a handful that have a variety of different cocktails, beer and wine which you can enjoy with bite size appies.
